Community Language Support (CLS)
Background
Language barriers pose significant challenges for minority communities in Scotland, as one of the first, and most prevalent, issues they face. This includes limited ESOL, lack of knowledge, and cultural barriers. As a result, accessing basic community and public services becomes exceedingly difficult.
Lack of accessible, affordable, and ethical language services magnifies these challenges for organisations and minority ethnic communities. To help address these issues, we have launched a new Community Language Support (CLS) service.
About Us
Our Community Language Support works towards reducing language barriers and eliminating discrimination of linguistic minorities.
Our aim is to empower communities through the provision of an ethical and quality advocacy service, fostering trust and ensuring accessibility.
We are running a pilot of this service, offering language advocacy and support in areas of need.
This service operates as a social enterprise.
Any income earned will be distributed back into the organisation, allowing us to continue to support our local communities.

We don’t just break down communication barriers—we actively work to eliminate obstacles that prevent linguistic minorities from accessing mainstream services. Our experienced team has a deep understanding of working with hard-to-reach communities, offering tailored advice and support in a variety of areas to ensure everyone has equitable access to vital resources.
We also offer tailored training which equips organisations with the essential skills needed to work with linguistic minorities. From interpreting and translation practices to language advocacy and rights, we’ll help your team develop inclusive communication strategies and foster stronger connections with diverse communities.
